Dr. Stephen S. Schwartz
President & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Schwartz joined Brooks Automation in April 2010 as President and was elected to the Brooks board of directors in August 2010. On October 1, 2010, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and continues to serve in this capacity. Dr. Schwartz provides the strategic vision and execution to assure Azenta Life Sciences continued growth in the life science markets.
Dr. Schwartz began his career at Applied Materials, Inc. in Santa Clara, California, and over the course of fourteen years held a number of senior leadership roles including head of Applied's High Temperature Films Division and Vice President and General Manager of the Services Division. He was also President of the Company's first software business unit. Following his tenure at Applied, Dr. Schwartz was the President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Asyst Technologies, Inc. for eight years. Since November 2018, Dr. Schwartz has served on the board of directors of Spire Inc., a publicly traded natural gas company.
Dr. Schwartz received his BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He also holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.
Lindon G. Robertson
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Robertson joined Brooks Automation on October 1, 2013 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Robertson is responsible for leading and managing Brooks' global financial strategy including establishing long range financial planning and policies while maintaining positive relationships with our shareholders and the financial community.
Prior to joining Brooks, Mr. Robertson was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Graftech International, a $1.3 billion global provider of carbon and graphite products for industrial applications. Prior to Graftech International, he worked for the IBM Corporation for over 25 years in various senior financial management roles, including CFO of IBM's global hardware business and CFO of IBM's Japan and China operations.
Mr. Robertson holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Texas, Austin. He also holds a CPA license from the state of North Carolina.
Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
Ms. Crowley joined Brooks Automation in April 2021 as Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for leading the global Human Resources strategy and operations.
Ms. Crowley joined the company after 11 years with Thermo Fisher Scientific where she served as Vice President, Human Resources in a variety of divisions across the organization. Over her 25-year career, she has held various Human Resources leadership roles at Danaher Corporation, Progress Software and RSA Security.
Ms. Crowley holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Bentley University.
Linda De Jesus
Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer
Ms. Linda De Jesus joined Brooks Automation on January 4, 2021 as Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Azenta Life Sciences when it was known as Brooks Life Sciences. Ms. De Jesus is responsible for leading and managing Azenta Life Sciences’ global commercial function including establishing go-to-market strategy and integrated organization capabilities.
Prior to joining the company, Ms. De Jesus worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific over 8 years in various executive roles, including Vice President and General Manager of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division. She was also Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, with annual sales revenue of $2.6B. Prior to Thermo Fisher Scientific, she worked for Agilent Technologies and Waters Corporation in various senior management roles.
Ms. De Jesus holds an Executive MBA from the University of Connecticut and an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Columbia University.
Dr. David C. Gray
Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy & New Business Officer
Dr. Gray joined Brooks Automation in July 2014 after having consulted with the Company since November 2013. He leads our next generation product and business initiatives and is also responsible for corporate-level initiatives to guide our strategic moves. Prior to joining the company, Dr. Gray held the position of Chief Strategy and New Business Officer at GT Advanced Technologies, Inc., where he held various executive management roles and was responsible for global strategy development and execution as well as internal product development. He spent several years as an M&A and strategic advisor to various companies in the technology and life science industries.
Dr. Gray has a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Masters and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from MIT, and an MBA degree from Stanford University.
Jason W. Joseph
Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Mr. Joseph joined Brooks Automation in March 2011 and is responsible for the Company's legal affairs, including corporate governance, intellectual property, securities, commercial contracts, litigation, compliance and regulatory activities. He also serves as Secretary of the Corporation and to the Board of Directors.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Joseph served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Unica Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise marketing management software and services, which was acquired by IBM in October 2010, and as General Counsel and Secretary of MapInfo Corporation, a global provider of location intelligence solutions, which was acquired by Pitney Bowes in April 2007. Mr. Joseph also practiced law at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP (formerly Hale and Dorr LLP) in Boston, MA.
Mr. Joseph holds a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Vice President, Corporate Development
Mr. O’Brien joined Brooks Automation in May 2010 and is responsible for corporate development, which includes acquisitions, divestitures, investments and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining Brooks, Mr. O’Brien served as Senior Director, Corporate Development at EMC and as Vice President, Technology Investment Banking at Cowen and Company. Mr. O’Brien started his career as an accountant with Palomar Medical Technologies and before that Arthur Andersen.
Mr. O’Brien holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a MS in Accounting from Northeastern University, and a BA from Colby College.
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Life Sciences Products
Mr. Vacha was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Azenta Life Sciences Products division in April 2020, which was formerly known as Brooks Life Sciences. He holds primary responsibility for driving innovation that supports complete sample management solutions for research and drug discovery including compound management, biologics, and gene and cell therapies. Mr. Vacha joined the company in 2014 and has held a series of senior leadership positions including SVP of Global Manufacturing prior to his current role.
Mr. Vacha has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree from MIT, and a BSME from Kettering University.
