About the Webinar:
Cryopreservation is a critical element of the supply chain for cell and gene therapy (CGT) applications. Whether it is preserving the source materials (apheresis or induced pluripotent stem cells), cryopreservation enables the manufacturing paradigm for CGT.
Led by Allison Hubel, PhD, this webinar will help you understand the factors that play an important role in cells surviving the stresses of freezing and thawing. She will make the connections between those scientific principles and the steps commonly used to preserve cells. Finally, she will discuss emerging issues in preserving CGT products and how advances can help transform how we preserve cells.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Hubel is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota and Director of the Technology Leadership Institute. She is President-elect of the Society for Cryobiology. Dr. Hubel has studied both basic science and translational issues behind preservation.
Her work spans from the study of molecular mechanisms of damage during preservation to the development of technology to improve preservation outcomes. She is currently Chief Science Officer of Evia Bio, a startup company based on the preservation technology developed in her lab. Dr. Hubel has published numerous scientific articles in the field of preservation, and she is the author of, “Preservation of Cells: a Practical Manual” published in 2018.
